Norman Lewis

Best obituary ever! as edited by Puriji. (For you ignorami out there, adding the suffixe -ji is a sign of respect and endearment in Hindi or more generally, India.)

From the New York Times, via The Gazette, Thursday October 6th 2006, p. B7.

"Norman Lewis, a recognised authority on English grammar and usage...Lewis initiated readers into mysteries like the meaning of 'mulct' (to bilk, tax or punish by fine); the difference between an anthropologist and a polyandrist; and the wisdom, or lack thereof, of using a preposition to end a sentence with."
