What they don't mention...

is that half of the world's oxygen is produced by phytoplankton via photosynthesis.

Summing up how I feel right now, after 2 weeks of sleeping on couches

Speaking of bottle people (which we weren't)

I've been mentionning this documentary for awhile. Since I built up the last one a bit too much and only got negative reactions, I'll play it safe this time and pretend that this one really sucks, that I don't know why I posted it and that you should really only check it out due to morbid curiosity. If you like it, I hate you and you should die.

Vive la Français!

I'm going to nerd up the oil spill talk

Just because I really don't care about baby dolphins that much given that the whole area's ecosystem is fucked for the next few decades and dolphins can actually migrate while most of the wildlife in that zone can't.
Also, because pictures from space are cool.

Stranger then fiction

You know those 80's movies that showed us how scary the future would be because of evil corrupted cupid old men lying to the masses in order to better exploit everyone and everything ?

Well, its beginning to look like they completely underrated how fucking evil and corrupted our world really is.

I don't believe it...

Miss Earth 2009

After establishing a track record in mounting world-class beauty pageants over the last decade, Carousel Productions Inc. decided to reinvent and improve the concept of beauty competitions for the new millennium.

Because many people admire and aspire to be a beauty queen, Carousel Productions, Inc. believed beauty queens would be a good and effective advocate of worthy causes. To give life to this vision, Carousel Productions Inc. organized and launched in 2001 the MISS EARTH Beauty Pageant, a beauty event whose raison d’etre was to have its candidates and winners actively promote and get involved in the preservation of the environment and the protection of Mother Earth.

Apart from a strong emphasis on environmental protection programs, MISS EARTH also aims to showcase and promote various tourist destinations. Every year, 80 to 90 candidates from all over the world compete on beauty and knowledge of environmental issues.

The winner of MISS EARTH will serve as the Ambassador to environmental protection campaigns worldwide.

Two brothers 'batin' each other

The most interesting debating I've seen lately. Christopher Hitchens is my favorite drunken atheist. And he really does get drunk for all of his debates. To the ire of his contemporaries, he enjoys expressing unpopular ideas such as why women aren't funny and why God is an asshole. The first topic about "Irok" is interesting enough but the gloves come off when the religion subject comes up. Low blows, sneers and childish comebacks abound by the time the Q&A session kicks into high gear. It's a fierce no holds barred intellectual romp.

Sorry Pants

ITN reported on the Bond film cancellation the morning of July 4th.

The new James Bond film, due for release by 2012, has been cancelled due to a cash crisis.

Production crew were told in April the £132 million blockbuster, starring Daniel Craig, had been postponed amid “financial problems” at debt ridden movie studio MGM, which co-funded the film.

The studio has now confirmed that filming of Bond 23 has been axed completely – and it could be years before the secret agent is back on the big screen.

American Beauty director Sam Mendes had been lined up to direct the twenty-third film in the franchise.

But production company Eon have confirmed in a statement: “We do not know when development will resume and cannot comment further at this stage.”

WTF? Aren't Bond films a guaranteed solid ROI? We should pool our money together and make it happen.

Interesting

I would not want to know the amount of hours I've spent in front of video games and porn.

The Story of Stuff

I watched this a few years ago. I just watched it again and I'm disturbed at just how much more pertinent it's become. She compresses 20 years of research into 20 minutes. (I apologize for the football field comparison in the video: it's very American)

If you haven't watched it yet, watch it now.

Here's the website:
The Story of Stuff

On it, there are videos about bottled water and cap and trade.

I only wish this was more than an animation.

The guy is working for Ubisoft now doing Scott Pilgrim vs The World. It's pretty much the same game but licensed.

$5 to whoever guesses what this guy is on...

I don't usually do this, but I think you should read the comments on YouTube. They're pretty damn funny.

Votre pays.

What I would like to aspire to

Now that's a sport!

So there's this website

That's all documentaries and it's worth checking out. Here IT is.

It especially kicks ass because it's Canadian and therefore is not only smart but will show such things as:

In the end though, it is by far the best free documentary resource hub I have found so far. I don't know how legal it is but, if it seeks to educate us, I support it 100%.

Oh, and don't forget to check out BBC Autopsy. I still haven't, but I'm looking forward to being psychologically scarred.

The passion that is Futbol

By the by, for any video on Youtube, there is a soccer ball icon that, when activated, simulates the sound of Vuvuzelas. How cool is that?

And to learn more about Andrès Escobar.
