Rickrolling started as an extension of duck rolling. it probably with 4chan, seemingly on either the /b/ or /v/ board. Like any succesfull meme everyone claims it's their own so there are other contenders to it but since duckrolling was specific to 4chan it makes sense to attribute rickrolling to them as well.
