People Aren't Smart Enough for Democracy

Food for thought. Considering the arguments that I hear people use and especially the ones I hear used by columnists, I am rather tempted by the idea of further limiting who gets the right to vote. You know, no need to be super smart, just smart enough to understand what you're truly voting for.

How embarrassing would it be if I got rejected?

I've been saying this for a while. I remember when Raël argued in this sense when he was invited at a very popular french canadian show. Of course he ended up being lambasted. The problem is stupidity is politics as well.

Eliminating politic parties would probably lessen the levels of general idiocy.

Eliminating political parties would lessen many negative things. Politics would be a lot less partisan for one thing. Not only that, but our representatives would be a lot freer to represent us.

Between a world without political parties and a world where the voting bar is set higher, which would you prefer?

Didn't we discuss this recently? i think I made a parallel with the fact that we already don't let children and retards vote so why should we allow the stupids? The problem is that we're too dumb to properly gauge human intelligence yet are smart enough to know that we can't. Nonetheless, coming up with some biased method could be loads of fun.
