This part of Bye-Bye 2008 has caused quite a stir.
I just noticed the Youtube comments and they're on FIRE! Even by Youtube standards. It's just that it's so funny watching Quebecers defend themselves in broken English.
Sample insult: ''son of the King's bitch i.e(for the unilingual) fils de pute du roi...''

so, ok, for the sake of humour and entertainment, i'll just walk along and buy that they didn't intend to be racist... it's just really bad anyway...

to be fair I always cringe when it comes to Quebecois humor. It's just so juvenile and kitschy I can't stomach it. Then again I often feel alienated by it since it's mostly self referential and I'm not particularly well stepped in Quebecois culture.

Quebec must have one of the most developped humour markets in the world, not even considering were just 7 million. Where else are so many comedians such big stars?
You'll argue that that does not guarantee quality. I'll argue that considering our cultural leanings, we know very little.
I'll argue that just like having 18 1 year olds giving you a blow job doesn't make it legal having hundreds of mediocre but popular comedians does not make Quebec a funny nation.
yo SB, i see your point and it should make sense, and in fact others have seen it too, that's why they've created l'école de l'humour... so now, everybody in this province who dreams of becoming a comedian or a stand-up or whatever has to go to that school, cause that's where they make contacts and the "best" are almost guaranteed a career... the downside is that that school is basically a factory, shaping each and every one of these "funny people" into what they know they can market... safe values, always aim in the same spot and you'll always hit it kinda deal... being clever doesn't sell. so they learn the fine art of one-liners and low-blows.
BTW! read my first comment up there...
well, AFTER i posted that, the dude in question apparently actually did that for real... he went back on stage with of of his colleagues who's black to do a sketch....
