In case you haven't read it yet, here's an excerpt:
The American Apparel V-neck shirt, Pabst Blue Ribbon beer and Parliament cigarettes are symbols and icons of working or revolutionary classes that have been appropriated by hipsterdom and drained of meaning. Ten years ago, a man wearing a plain V-neck tee and drinking a Pabst would never be accused of being a trend-follower. But in 2008, such things have become shameless clichés of a class of individuals that seek to escape their own wealth and privilege by immersing themselves in the aesthetic of the working class. goddamn, I was waiting for fixed gears to show up after fake glasses and tight jeans... I'M NOT A HIPSTER!!! I LOVE MY FIXED GEAR AS A JOCK LOVES HIS CAMARO!!! I LOVE RIDING IT BECAUSE ITs perfect because its more practical, efficient and fun. I dont give a rat's ass about style. Even though Edouardo does have a lot of style.
Nough said. I'm a nerd, a jock, a stoner, a metalhead, a skizo, but I aint no fucking hipster just because I ride fixed gear.
Nice haircut.
Nice art party, asshole.
What art party?....dick.
Hey Candyman, you hipster douchebag, are you posting that article in an ironic fashion? Woody sent me this like 2 weeks ago, so are you ironicaly clueless or retro?
You know, authenticity can't be consumed. You either is or you ain't.
I know when the article came out asshole. That's why I started my post with: "In case you haven't read it yet, here's an excerpt"
Wow! Looks like I hit a few nerves there...
PS: SB...you are definitely not a hipster. You have great taste in beers and hipsters drink Pabst. Oh wait... nevermind. But they a ride fix.... nevermind. And... shit, nevermind.
i've never been cool a single day in my life. there's no way for me to be a hipster.
maybe i'll buy some pabst, a v neck t shit, some big dark shades, wear a mankerchief and start wearing really tight pants.
hey, the new Metallica album rocks!
On another note, didn't your parents teach you that if you complain about hipsters, you invariably are one? Aren't we too old for this shit anyway? Shouldn't we be more worried about becoming yuppies? To all this I say Radical, dude! I'm cool with the kids, G!
oh yeah right, sorry mister if you're on the other side of the axis line, but we Mediocrity Nazis cannot hope to ever become yuppies so we can only take our rage on the hipsters, which we can no longer emulate since we're too old. You go ahead and deal with the obstacles of your level. We'll be there watching, applauding your failures and booing your victories.
well, considering that of all the terms young upwardly mobile professionals only one of them still sort of applies to all of us (and even then we're nearing 30 here)i don't think we're quite there yet.
but on the other hand like i said we're not cool enough to be hipsters.
Careful reading of posts is for hiptsers
I'm 30 asshole!
