That is FANTASTIC! Those hours do not correspond in anyway to my work hours. What about the 65$ I shelled out for my bus pass? Can I get a refund since I will be walking an hour to work in the morning and the evening?
Remember the last grève? It lasted a month. I am so upset I could cry.

I AM SO SICK AND TIRED OF THESE FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT UNIONS WANTING MORE AND MORE! THEY WERE PUT IN PLACE TO PROTECT WORKER'S RIGHTS, BUT END UP DEMANDING MORE WORKER'S PRIVILEGES!
HAVE YOU SEEN SOME OF THESE ASSHOLES? $60 000 A YEAR. MY FRIEND'S BOYFRIEND WORKED AS A MAILMAN FOR CANADA POST. AS A RESULT SHE GOT FREE SPA TREATMENT. FREE. FOR BEING HIS FUCKING GIRLFRIEND. THEY WEREN'T EVEN COMON LAW. THAT'S PUBLIC FUCKING MONEY!
THIS STRIKE IS PISSING THE FUCK OUT OF ME AND IT ONLY STARTED 40 MINUTES AGO. I REALLY REALLY REALLY HATE THESE FUCKERS. THEY'RE SPOILED SHITS THAT KNOW THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH MURDER.
FUCK EM'
that's really naive joker. first off, they're only fighting or a 2% raise per year. but that's not their main concern. they want a better pension plan to be more secure financially in the future. these people are skilled laborers, not mailmen. and you example of the SPA is a little facile. there could have been a million reasons why they were giving away SPA treatments (sponsorship partnerships, etc.)... i really doubt they bought it with taxpayer money.
i know it's a pain to be inconvenienced by these guys, but they haven't been working under a contract since January. This is something they believe in and as a last resort, they had to put big pressure on.
I'd like to see how you react when the teacher's unions aren't satisfied.
oh please!!!
first of all, many of them ARE NOT skilled laborers, as there are a bunch who are the very efficient and energetic JANITORS! no skills needed, i was a unioned janitor at a hospital when i was 18... actually, you need great skills at not working, finding places to hide to read, sleep, etc. break your equipment to delay your work in a way that doesn't show it was intentionnal, etc. and you need to be good at complaining for every little thing in life in order to blame it for your miserable existence...
more seriously though, it'sjust that we're fucked with unions here cause this province a fucking pussy-state that's ran by the unions... and as long as it's the case, we'll see these sorts of strikes, we'l see overpasses collapse, we'll see buildings exceed their budget by three times, etc.
i'm getting the fuck out. and i'm buying a bike.
Don't bring education into this because with a four year education degree, and an extra three years voctional training, I'll only be making $40 000 a year. And a teacher takes on legal gardianship of all their students, is responsible for the eaducation of around 150 students a day, and spends a ridiculous amount of unclocked hours correcting and planning. Trebek is right. Quebec is a pussy government that is so afraid of losing votes that it doesn't set limitations on the power of unions.
what i don't understand is that the pusrpose of a strike is to pressure the public to make some pressure on the executives to sign a deal ASAP... basically taking hostages, but this doesn't make me any more favorable to their cause! on the contrary, i'd hate to see them win this one!
i know the drivers aren't involved in this one, but they too will strike eventually like they did before so anyway, i remember taking the bus last fall and i didn't have any money on me or anyhting so i re-used an expired correspondance and the bus driver caught me and he was like "you know, people like you are the reason for all the fare increses..." i didn't want to start a fight so i refrained from saying "and so is your fat ass on that seat..."
Here's an interesting scoop on the subject. Its not exactly the news but if someone can find a decent source of information on the inner workings of the STM, I would like to have it...so as to validate my indignation and wholeheartidly wage war on unions in Quebec.

First of all, I had no idea this was such a reactionary website.
Secondly, the last transit strike was ONE (1) week long, not one month.
i'll also add that as much as everyone is pointing the finger at the unions it's not their fault for advocating on the behalf of the workers... that's their whole reason for being. The government needs to stop caving to its demands however and stop dicking around.
the flipside of the union coin is the nurse's union: while they have a union in place they have no power to stop working because they are en essential service. So what's the end result? Bus workersget paid more than they do? Is it fair? no, but then again if life were fair i'd be able to get laid upon a polite request and all my favorite foods would both be good for me and super cheap. also the wine would flow like water.
but since i'm apparently not bacchus then I guess that means life can sometimes suck and uneven power relations might exist in the world.
also, people, buy a bike. unless you live off the island of montreal almost anywhere is a short bike ride away... and it saves gas, it's great for your health and you don't have to get stuck in the fucking metro at 7am with a bunch of morons who apparently never heard of mouth wash.
well the strike is over as off tonight anyway... service should be fully operational tomorrow morning...
