!!! (chk chk chk) are playing tonight at the Saints and reviews for their tour so far are unanimous that seeing these 9 weirdos on stage is a once in a lifetime experience. Some have also called this show "the best show of the year so far" and, in my opinion, this show will only contend with 2 shows this year so far: ed banger at club soda last march and priestess/the binges at barfly a few weeks ago, and i'm still wainting to see daft punk... but i'm in no way surprised that !!! could deliver a performance that could easily rivalize with any of these shows since their latest album myth takes will most probably figure on my top 10 (if not top 3) albums of the year next december...
the tickets are 18$ for the show tonight, which is sort of steep for such a shitty venue as the Saints, but whatever, if you are financially apt, i urge you to shell the 18$ and run to this show (i don't think it's sold out yet...), even if you've never heard of these guys! Holy Fuck are also playing that show which is a plus-value...
If you don't have the money for the show, you could also attend their after-party at green room, where 2 members of the band will be spinning from around 12 or 1 until 3... not exactly the same as seeing them live, but they should defientely play some interresting and highly dancefying music...
IN OTHER NEWS!
they've finally solved the music swapping problem!!!
i found this nugget on another board, but i don't have the exact source... still pretty funny though...
"The music industry has recently unveiled a revolutionary new recording
format that they hope will help win the war on illegal file sharing,
thought to be costing the industry millions of dollars in lost revenue.
Nicknamed the 'Record', the new format takes the form of a black, vinyl
disc measuring 12 inches in diameter, which must be played on a
specially designed 'turntable'.
"We can state with absolute certainty that no computer in the world can
access the data on this disc," said spokesman Brett Campbell. "We are
also confident that no-one is going to be able to produce pirate copies
in this format without going to a heck of a lot of trouble. This is
without doubt the best anti-piracy invention the music industry has ever
seen."
As part of the invention's rigorous testing process, the designers gave
some discs to a group of teenage computer experts who regularly use
file-swapping software such as Limewire and gnutella and who admit to
pirating music CDs. Despite several days of trying, none of them were
able to hack into the disc's code or access any of the music files
contained within it.
In the new format, raw audio data in the form of music is encoded by
physically etching grooves onto the vinyl disc. The sound is thus
translated into variations on the disc's surface in a process that
industry insiders are describing as 'completely revolutionary' and
'stunningly clever.'"
